"In June of 2016 I had to leave home for 10 days and worried about leaving my wife, Jan, alone for that length of time as she had a 50 year history of rheumatoid arthritis and everyday chores were becoming difficult. A friend recommended that I contact Tailored Lifestyles so they might send a caregiver to help Jan during my absence. A caregiver came to our home 8 hours per day and I was able to leave knowing Jan was cared for. The entire experience was excellent.
When, in September of 2018, Jan took a turn for the worse we again contacted Tailored Lifestyles and for the entire 13 months until Jan's passing in October of 2019, a caregiver was at our house 7 days a week from 8 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. Four or five different caregivers shared in the care for Jan and they were each special and competent and a joy to have in our home. They would help Jan shower and dress every morning, prepare light meals at breakfast and lunch and assist in the many everyday chores that had become difficult for Jan to perform. They were there for all the little emergencies that occur during the day. They were especially wonderful at providing Jan with good conversation and friendship. The bond that formed between Jan and each of her caregivers was wonderful to witness. She came to love each of them and they each came to adore Jan.
Knowing that Jan was in good hands during this trying period was a lifesaver for me. It meant I was free to come and go and to work and do the things I needed to do from 8 until 4. I then was Jan's caregiver for the next 16 hours until 8 the following morning. During our 56 years together Jan had fought hard to remain strong and independent. She just needed a little help at the end and Tailored Lifestyles was there for her. And for me. I don't know what we would have done without them."
